My Students
Our students will change the world! As an International Baccalaureate elementary school, or students have grown up seeing their power (and responsibility) for taking action to make the world a better place. We live in a small town north of Seattle, Washington in a school district where equity, social awareness and social justice are high priorities. Students regularly hold drives to support everything from supplies for the Humane Society to Valentines for children in near by hospitals, to backpack drives for children who need them. Given the knowledge they need, these children will make the world a better place- in fact, they already are!
My Project
Access to iPod touches will allow my students to document the day-to-day excitement and learning in my 5th grade classroom. They will use these iPods to collect photos and videos to share on our classroom blog.
In pairs, students will spend a week acting as the class reporters: recording the learning of their classmates and creating blog posts.
Specifically, the small size of the iPod makes it easy to take these with us when we go on field trips, help in buddy classrooms, or take our weekly walk in the woods. IPods will allow my students to share their experiences.
