This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are receiving dance classes 4 days out of the week instead of a traditional PE class. They study a wide variety of dance styles including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, modern, lyrical and social/cultural dancing. All students have an opportunity to participate in an after school performance at the end of the year.

My students are creative, hard-working and brave individuals who want to push themselves beyond the limits of a traditional PE class.

Given that this is the second year of the program at our school, we lack some general necessities a typical dance studio would have. My students are fully engaged and eager to learn more; proper equipment would allow us to do that.

My Project

My students need ipods. Student choreography allows students to express themselves and tell their stories. Without a device to play music, it makes the process more difficult. Right now my students don't have a way to play music while they work in groups on choreography projects. With your help they will be able to select their own music and complete the projects with more freedom to create.

Student choreography is often a favorite part of class for my dance students.

Without devices for music, it gets tricky to complete the projects and we don't do them as often as I would like. With these iPods my students would be able to complete more choreography projects and express themselves through movement.
