iPods for Education! "Read one-Read all!" Technology and multimedia applications should be used as a tool to enhance a child's educational experience by creating a variety of methods to meet special needs, teach children how to manage information, and allow for opportunities to develop higher level thinking skills. I teach in a 7th-8th grade self-contained special education classroom where most of my students have behavioral issues. My school has a lot of low income students and most of the students in my classroom do not have the necessary technology in their homes to advance in the "technology world."

Most of the students in my classroom come with an attitude of "I don't care." As I have faced this issue, I have incorporated technology to help them switch their attitudes about their education and it really does work!

Unfortunately, in today’s society, not all students learn by doing the same strategy. In my particular classroom, numerous students do not do well with the typical “direct instruction,” but need a variety of learning experiences. By using technology, it helps teachers expand the four walls of the traditional classroom and explore the world in which these students live by using the student's mode of learning: visual, kinesthetic, and auditory. By using the iPods, students will be able to focus on literature novels, and will also be able to view podcasts which I have recorded for them if they were absent. When a student receives a piece of technology, it opens up a whole new world for them!

Each student will be able to benefit from the use of these iPods and it will create a classroom atmosphere that students will want to learn and want to attend school!
