This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a self-contained, multi-subject sixth grade teacher. My student population is minority with a high concentration of English Language Learners.
My sixth grade students are very interested in technology!
I can use this fascination of technology to my advantage in math. The iPod touch is a "hands-on" learning device that will assist me and my students with valuable math concepts. Unfortunately, technology is very expensive and not always available to my students.
My Project
With the use of the iPod touch applications in the classroom my students will be able to further understand the math concepts taught to them through the use of technology. My students will use various applications for math. For example, the protractor application for measuring angles. The Brain Quest application for enhancing math knowledge. My students will use the Kitchen Conversions application to assist them with the metric and customary units of measurements. These are a few of the endless number of applications that will improve their abilities in math. The iPod touch will allow them to have another valuable tool to assist the learning process.
"ipod, you pod, we all pod for ipods!" is a valuable project for my students!
