This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Do you remember seeing different technology devices and wishing that you could just hold one? My students were so excited when I brought my I-Pod to class to introduce an activity that included scanning QR codes.
My students are so wonderful.
They enjoy interactive activities and new things. They get so excited when technology is included in their lessons. They also enjoy being noticed as the very successful, well-behaved students in fourth grade. The school the students attend is very small and it is located in a rural area. Everyone in the small town attends the same elementary school. There are only about 250 students in the K-6 school. The students were so excited when I told them that they may be able to use I-Pods in their math technology center in my classroom. The town's income has been identified as falling below the national poverty line. Therefore it is a challenge for them to receive the new technology that is rising in our world around us. The students are very successful and can be even more modern world capable with the necessary resources in their classrooms.
These resources will change the students' lives for better by allowing them to experience new technology in the classroom. Technology has become a popular research based topic in education. The students will participate in many activities that include scanning QR codes as a self-checking resource. The students create a My Problem QR Code Mini-book. They will have the opportunity to answer their classmates' problems, and then scan the QR code to check their answer during weekly math centers. They will also be able to practice their facts using QR codes bottle caps. The students will participate in solving fraction task cards and checking their answers using QR codes. The students will learn their multiplication facts, ordering and comparing fractions, and many other wonderful state standards using these I-Pods. Most of all, the applications that have been discovered on these I-Pods has been proved by many researchers to help struggling and low performing students in the classroom.
This project will make a huge impact on my students.
They will have the opportunity to experience technology in a way that they could have never imagined. They will be learning and having fun at the same time. Who says learning can't be fun and educational? This will also give students hope and motivation about striving for excellence once they see that learning is not so complicated. They will also know that there are people all around the world who care about their education.
