This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We love to sing and dance! But, we can't hear the music from our iPod. We need an iPod docking station so that we may be able to better listen to our favorite music.
My students approach life with the enthusiasm and curiosity that all five-year-old children seem to have in abundance.
Despite living in a low socioeconomic area where their parents struggle to make ends meet, they are incredibly hopeful and looking forward to the future. Their parents want the best education possible for them but due to financial constraints, many cannot afford to have up-to-date technology at home. It is up to me and the school to provide these wonderful, amazing, eager and bright kids with experiences using technology. We are a Title I school, which means that we do get funds to improve the academic achievement of the disadvantaged, but not enough to provide every class or student with a computer, laptop, tablet or iPod. These students deserve more exposure and experience with the technology that will shape tomorrow; including using iPods to listen to music.
My Project
In kindergarten, we do a lot of singing! We sing from the moment class starts to dismissal time. We sing songs during calendar time, language arts, math, and all other academic subjects. Having an iPod docking station, case, and shield would allow us to use our iPod to better listen to our favorite music. I wouldn't have to use my scratched-up CDs or worry about cuing a cassette. An iPod docking station would also help us stay fit as it would help us during P.E. time to do a little dancing.
We are looking forward to sing, dance and laugh with the aid of our iPod and iPod docking station.
As Plato once said, "Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything."
