The technology-savvy students coming to kindergarten in the 21st century require more interactive methods to learn and practice the required reading, writing, and math skills. This iPad, and the many free and inexpensive apps available, will help to provide this interactive opportunity for my students in both group and individual settings.
My students come from varied backgrounds with varied experiences and levels of reading and math competency.
But, they are all eager to absorb themselves in any technology that is available to them.
I am requesting an iPad with case and Applecare to expand my students' classroom engagement, learning, and fun. This iPad will provide an individual, hands-on learning experience for my students. Depending on the app selected, the iPad can build fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary for my early readers or assist phonemic awareness and phonics skills for my developing readers. They can provide counting and number recognition for early mathematicians, or addition and subtraction practice for the more advanced math learners. The programs will provide beneficial feedback for individual students and be enjoyed by all students during centers, small-group time, and during individual tutoring time. It will allow us to work as individuals and as a group on lessons and projects. It will allow individualized small-group time that can emphasize skills and meet the need of each child in the group.
