My Students
My first-grade students are from a Title I school in the heart of Southwest Oklahoma. The best thing about my students is the excitement and eagerness they have about school and learning. I love my students' curiosity. Have you ever seen a first grader with an iPad? They are engaged and learning about science, letters, sounds, and numbers. This love of learning is something I hope to keep alive for each of my sweet students well into their adult lives.
I always strive to give them the best of me, that includes supplies, lessons, resources, and attention.
However, during COVID-19, everything has become more difficult. Many of my students have deficits in their learning due to missed school for COVID related issues.
My Project
During this unprecedented time, we are relying on technology more than ever. I see the use of iPads helping us close the achievement gap created from COVID-19. I want to give them independent time on iPads to practice their skills. My classroom is looking for an iPad we can use both in the classroom and at home for the days and weeks that my students have to be quarantined. This iPad will empower students to interact with digital centers, solidifying their understanding of math and reading. The students will also be able to practice their phonics and math skills with digital flashcards. I also and allow students to play educational games on them when they complete their work!
The iPads will help strengthen concepts previously taught and differentiate the different academic levels in our classroom.

This iPad will bring my students more opportunities for learning in engaging ways. This engagement will help bridge the gap that Covid has caused for my struggling students. It will open a new world of learning games, audio books, and individualization my students need. By adding the Osmo games it gives the students a way to learn hands on with technology as well.
Adding these iPads will bring our iPad count to 3 which will allow my classroom to reach a four-student to 1 iPad ratio (4:1).
