This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As teachers we are told "make it work" and " differentiate your teaching to students." Well, in a technology-based world we are living in, most children are using some form of smartphone/tablet by 1st grade. Why not have literacy and mathematics practice be available on an engaging iPad?
My 32 amazing students are bright and curious children, who are becoming more independent each day!
My students attend a high poverty, public, elementary school in Pennsylvania. We are a Title One, low income school. Since many of our students come from a home where food is not always plentiful, all students are served breakfast in the classroom. We are heavily populated with English Language Learners. Having such a large ELL population makes each classroom very diverse and full of life, but it also comes with a fair share of challenges. Having an iPad in my classroom will be a great tool to increase language acquisition for both my ELL students and my native English speakers. These children are very enthusiastic learners and want to do the best they can.
My Project
I am requesting 1 iPad and 1 protective case for my classroom. My students will use their Apple iPad Mini and protective case in many several ways throughout the day. It will be used each day during literacy and math centers, where all students will have the chance to get their hands on technology to help them become proficient first graders!
Having an iPad in our classroom will help get my students excited about learning and keep them actively engaged in what they are practicing.
It will also be a great tool to help bridge language gaps for my ELL students.
