Ipads for Word Work

My students need 3 apple ipad minis for word work. Six students can work at a time by pairing two students per ipad during guided reading and Daily 5 rotations.

My Students

Guided reading, which is a crucial element in first grade and early reading instruction, is a core activity of each day. The time is used to instruct and learn at each individual child's level. While a student is not with a teacher, he/she goes through Daily 5 rotations.

During our rotations for Daily 5, students practice becoming more fluent readers and writers.

Students can manipulate and work on words during "Word Work." It's a joy to see their faces come alive with excitement during their aha moments! Language really starts to make sense, writing is more fluent, spelling improves, and vocabulary increases.

My Project

To inspire and motivate my eager young readers and writers, I'm planning to use three ipad minis, two students per ipad, with headphones for their Word Work time. Students will play word games together geared according to ability and instructional level. Not only will this be educational, but students will be highly motivated and have fun while learning!

This project will definitely improve my classroom by providing students with fun, educational technology, while working with a partner.

They will be motivated and challenged by the word work apps. This invaluable technological resource will be an integral tool in the classroom, of inestimable value to my students.
