Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My transitional kindergarten students need access to new technology. In our classroom there are 3 very old computers for student use. Many of my students have little or no access to them during a typical week.

Our school is located in a low economic area.

100% of the students are Title 1 and qualify for the Free Federal Breakfast and Lunch program. Most of my students come from families who do not speak English. My transitional kindergarten students are enthusiastic about learning and always try their best. I have seen their language, social and academic skills grow everyday. They have shown me that they have the potential to learn and succeed in school.

My Project

The Ipads will be used by my students as a resource to play music, enjoy their favorite literature, and to display visual aids that support language. The Ipads will also be used by students so they can have access to learning websites that will support their learning skills. My students will be able to use the Ipads worry-free because each Ipad will have case protection. With these 3 Ipads I can create a rotation plan in which all of my students will have access to an Ipad at least once a week.

As a transitional kindergarten teacher, I feel I have to provide my young students with a rich learning environment and the opportunity to use 21st century technology.

This is their first year in school and they are extremely eager to learn. I want to create a passion for school that will continue with them through their academic career. Please help me support this project that will provide my students with new technology needed to run a fun and successful school year.
