Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our elementary school is a Title I school and many of the students come from low income families. At our school, 91% of students receive free or reduced price meals. Over 50% of our students are English Language Learners. The total enrollment is over 975 students. We offer pre-kindergarten, full-day kindergarten and English Language Learner programs, as well as Targeted Reading, Reading Recovery, Targeted Math, and Title I services in language arts and math programs. Additional services that provide support to our students and their families include extended learning opportunities for all students not meeting grade level standards and the school-based health center. The students are eager to learn each day!

My Project

All students love to learn in new and exciting ways, and incorporating technology into the lessons will help accomplish this goal! By having access to iPads, students receiving special education services in my room will be able to engage in online, interactive learning experiences to meet their IEP goals. Students will also be able to participate in video modeling to enhance social skills. Students will be able to create and use visual schedules on the iPads, which will help with transitions and behavior management. For students who struggle with writing, an iPad can be a great tool for completing assignments. Many students will benefit from the use of the iPads in the special education room!
