My Students
As a first year teacher, starting in August 2019, I will have a group of 20 students coming into my classroom for the first time. These students will have completed only one year of school before I meet them. My students will be first graders.
My students will have varying interests - some will be interested in outer space, some will be interested in cars, others will be interested in horses or dogs - that makes each of them unique and creates a classroom culture like no other.
These students, along with myself, will become a classroom family. In this family we will respect one another, get to know one another, and most importantly lift one another up.
In my classroom, students will know that they are appreciated and loved. Students will learn that they are valued and amazing. I will make it a priority to teach my students that they are capable of amazing things. It is also important to me that I instill in my students, 21st Century Skills such as communication, technology literacy, and more.
My Project
Having access to iPads in the classroom will help my students become more technologically literate at an early age so that as they move forward in a world that is becoming more and more technologically advanced, they will be more easily able to be successful.
iPads will be used in my classroom as a source of differentiation for students.
Students may use iPads to listen to books being read, record themselves reading, practice phonics or math facts, or even to record videos for projects.
iPads will also be a great way to get students engaged with different topics by creating a hands-on way to get them involved with the material that they are learning.
