Help me give my students activities that provide a freedom of expression and freedom of movement! With iPads my students will have access to apps for both instruction and practice.
I have had the pleasure of working with students in grades 3-5. This year I have been introduced to my first ICT classroom. With the support of my co-teacher I have been able to begin targeting the needs of my students. Returning back into the classroom after our young scholars have endured the trials and tribulations of a pandemic has been an expected transition. Nevertheless, even during this time I want to create a grand learning space with as much possible learning experiences.
My students are 3rd graders in a Title I school in Brooklyn, New York.
Over 70% of our students are receiving free school lunch. Nonetheless, they are a spirited and very energetic bunch. My classroom will consist of students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities developmental and communicative delays.
As a result, I only seek to meet their learning needs by creating a space that provides the best educational experiences and social distancing. I believe students with special needs require an educational space with much differentiated instruction and the essential tools required to target their learning styles.
My Project
After almost 2 years of remote learning, the use and need of technology within the classroom has proven to be essential. My students love learning through technology. They are able to move at their own pace and not feel the pressure that may exist within whole class instruction. By adding iPads within the classroom, students will be able to use them for stations that allow independent practice. They enable access to resources such as I-Ready, Snappet, and Kapit. Such resources can be tailored towards students' individual abilities and working needs.
