This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders enrolled in a rural Northeast high school. Our school is a large public high school with nearly 2700 students. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with many of our students receiving free lunch. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in the Northeast.

My students all love to come to a studio based class and enjoy the challenges and high expectations I set for them.

My students are enrolled in the Visual Arts program at our school and are extremely creative. They have a wide range of learning needs; some with high skill levels and others with very special needs requiring lesson modification. I teach primarily analog and digital photography.

My Project

The reality of a classroom setting has changed this year due to COVID. Hybrid and Distance Learning is our new norm. Most of their work will be done on technology equipment to help minimize the spread of the virus. This year students will not be able to share equipment or supplies and all our students need their own materials. Many students are fortunate to have smartphones, DSLR cameras or tablets to use, however a few will be struggling to find digital cameras for class.

My project is asking for help to provide a few iPads to the students who are in need a of a digital device.

Our school has decided to start the year with the hybrid model. Therefore the students will be learning from home every other day. With your generous donations students who are without, will also be given the opportunity to have these iPads to aid them during their distance learning days.

These iPads will be used in school and at home. The students will be able to complete their assigned in-school projects and take them home to complete on their at home learning days.
