it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Class 215 is filled with bright second graders who are always eager to learn!
My students are second graders in a high poverty area.
I am teaching in an ICT class that includes many students who struggle academically and some students who speak very little English. Second grade is a crucial year for students to make progress in their foundational skills. Many of my students are performing below grade level and need engaging materials that make them want to keep working on their skills. The students in my class need access to additional resources to support the lessons that are taught each day.
My Project
I envision the students using iPad technology to both support and enrich their literacy and math skills. These iPads with would allow my students to access learning in a variety of different ways. In literacy, students will work independently on reading apps to reinforce instruction, listen to books to increase comprehension and fluency, work with voice to text to overcome writing difficulties, do online research for projects, take photos to document work, and benefit from general exposure to technology. In math, students will work independently and in groups on various common core aligned apps. Students will practice addition, subtraction, time, money, and measurement. Although my goal is to build literacy and math skills with these iPads, I know that they will supplement learning throughout the school day in all areas.
These iPads will help make second grade a memorable and fun experience for my students.
