My Students

Can you imagine growing up in a technology driven world but not having access to that same technology that will help you succeed in life? Welcome to the world of my kinders!

My school is located in a mid- to low-income area where parents sometimes have to choose between Internet/cable and necessary expenses such as electric or food.

After the recent devastation in our community, our district general funds budget has been slashed by 50% which leaves our school in desperate need of outside assistance to ensure that our kiddos have every possible educational tool at their fingertips. These tools will help them to be competitive in today's technological tech savvy world. If they leave school and have never had access to those tools, they begin their journey far behind those of different circumstances.

My Project

My students need an iPad mini case and shield to support learning center time. An iPad mini is the perfect size for little Kinder hands. By rotating students through a technology center, students will gain not only the hands-on knowledge of technology, but also have classroom lessons reinforced with the many educational apps available (i.e.: handwriting, ABC learning, sight word reinforcement, etc.). Using this type of technology helps to strengthen hand/eye coordination. Yes, students could do it on a worksheet, but it is MUCH more fun to do it on a mini computer!
