This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Have you ever struggled to complete a task or learn something new? My students have learning differences and really need a different way to learn.
My students are wonderfully amazing young women.
The students are incredibly curious and bright. We are an all-girls public charter school that is empowering young women to reach for whatever career they want. We want to break social norms and pride ourselves on pushing our girls in the areas of science and math.
My Project
With two iPad Minis in the classroom, my students will be able to do so much more! My students with learning differences will be able to use the iPad in science writing to verbally record their thoughts before playing it back and scribing it. These iPads will give the girls an unlimited library to choose for independent reading time, as well as access to a dictionary and a thesaurus. In Math, students will be able to use an app to create flash cards with Math facts. If I need to do small group instruction and/or remediation I will be able to use these iPads to show amazing visuals of concepts, and really open up a world of learning. These are just a FEW things that these iPads can do for our classroom.
These iPads along with two covers and protection plans will give our girls a chance to compete in the 21st century.
We are preparing them for college, and we need to make sure that we are preparing them on a holistic level. Giving our girls iPads will help round out the technology aspect that they will need for the future. As teachers, we are preparing our girls for jobs that do not even exist yet.
