This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students come in to my classroom with a variety of knowledge as they represent different languages and cultures. In this day and age, it is vital that students learn the skills to use technology in our society! By using IPads we can learn new academic and lifelong learning skills.

My students represent five different languages being spoken at home.

Being a Title I school, we see poverty represented in many different ways. My kindergarten students come to school with so much joy and a passion for learning. Learning in two languages (Spanish and English) is opening their brains up to gain so much more knowledge and broadening their horizons! Our school is a small community school where most kids walk to school and the majority of families know each other!

My Project

This iPad will encourage and my students in the areas of literacy and math. I have noticed that some students who struggle with a certain skill or who are reluctant to learn something new often get very excited about a concept when it is on the iPad! Students will play a variety of interactive games to practice skills in both English and Spanish to practice math, listening skills and reading.

I have seen my students make great improvements in math by using certain games on the iPad.

I am eager to also incorporate literacy by introducing new games that help my students learn both Spanish and English. My students do not have a lot of access to technology in their homes so these iPads would help give exposure to current technology.
