My Students
Communicating with others can sometimes be difficult, but for 3 and 4-year-olds it can be even more challenging. With our growing world, technology has given many students more means to communicate and show their abilities. Help us gain the technology we need to help our students show their stuff!
My students are excellent children.
They are always smiling and happy to be at school where they get to learn. My students are between the ages of 3-5 and all have many different abilities. In my preschool special education classroom, our students are working on building social skills, working on communication with peers and adults, and being independent, as well as learning those academic skills other children learn at their age.
My Project
If we receive the IPad for our classroom, students will be able to utilize the technology as a means of communication. There are many apps available for children in preschool special education programs that provide picture cues and visuals as a mean of communicating. With the simple touch of a finger, a young student can request an item they desire even if they do not have the expressive communication skills necessary to verbally ask the teacher.
An IPad would also help with handwriting skills. Students would be able to use different programs to trace letters of the alphabet and work on fine motor skills all while keeping focus and staying engaged due to the IPad's interactive qualities.
Donations for our project would make a huge difference in my students' lives.
Many of our children do not have these technology resources in their homes. Providing this technology component at school helps to connect them to the same resources that other children receive outside their school setting. It will help increase their confidence, communication, fine motor skills, academic skills, independence and positive attitude. Please help us reach our goal and thank you for supporting my students.
