My Students

Our class is wonderfully unique. You see, we are a charter school for students on the Autism spectrum (and for other students who would benefit from our unique learning environment). The small class size allows us to provide individualized instruction for each student. Our goal is to help students reach their fullest potential academically, socially, and emotionally which leads to productive and successful futures.

We believe in inclusive education for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

This means we are constantly adapting to meet the needs of our active students. Thankfully, technology has made this process much easier. Our students love to use technology in the classroom. They engage in their learning so much more when we can incorporate technological components. Students often can overcome some of the sensory and behavior issues they struggle with when we can provide a technology piece in their learning. It's amazing!

My Project

My students have such different learning abilities that we truly need to create individualized plans for each student. Technology makes this possible. By using the innovative apps available, students can work independently at their own level in language arts and math.

The ability for students to work on engaging, data tracking lessons independently is invaluable.

Not only does it allow teachers to work with small groups on targeted standards and skills, but it also provides feedback to teachers on how a student can independently perform. Getting our students to do independent worksheets is boring for students and less valuable to their overall learning.

iPads are amazing learning tools, especially for our special education students. They need learning to be easy and engaging. These iPads will help making learning just that.
