This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds, many with English as a second or third language. Students at my school come from eighteen, different countries and thirty-nine languages are represented. Eighty-five percent of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

"I can do hard things!" are words that I hear often in my classroom.

Kindergarten students are naturally inquisitive and love to learn through hands-on, inquiry-based learning. With such a diverse classroom with language barriers, students can learn and communicate through technology and hands-on learning. Without proper materials and equipment, it is impossible to provide them with the necessary learning that they will need to be successful adults.

My Project

Students in my class must currently share three iPads and can only access them two to three times a week. Please help me provide more technology to provide the best education possible for my students. They will be used for phonics skills, decoding, comprehension, and math skills.

Technology will enable my students to access online curriculum to improve their reading and language skills, as well as their math skills.

COVID-19 greatly impacted skills that were taught at home and through pre-school. These iPads will provide opportunities to engage with curriculum and to practice missing skills.
