This year my class is made up of 24 enthusiastic learners ages 6- 7. About half of them are English language learners; some have individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet their specific learning objectives.
They come from varied ethnic backgrounds including Latinos, Asian, Middle Eastern, African American, etc.
who make their difference their best asset.
A visit to my classroom will allow you to experience the candor and brilliance of young learners who in spite of their age have already grasped the importance of education to improve their futures.
iPads in the classroom can provide opportunities for students to be able to work and excel at their own level and pace. As a teacher, I can use specific apps, such as Imagine Learning, Jiji Math, Nearpod, as well as games to provide personalized learning experiences to fit each students progress. iPads can make managing a classroom and keeping up with a class full of students much easier.
Most of my teaching is done in small groups rather than whole group.
Each small group has 4 to 6 students. As I work with a group the other 3 work independently in reading, writing, and technology. However, since I only have 4 iPads in the classroom; often 2-3 students need to wait for their classmates to finish their work. Adding these 2 tablets to the ones I already have will allow all kids to have at least one rotation a day!
