My Students

Our school was founded in 1965 and named after a veteran of a local newspaper. The school was dedicated on September 26, 1965. Our staff of 30+ teachers serve almost 600 students in grades PreK-5. Our clubs include the National Elementary Honors Society, E.Y.E.-Engaging Youth in Engineering, Student Council, and the Good News Club. We participate in an annual food drive for the local Bay Area Food Bank, an annual toy drive for the local Salvation Army Angel Tree, Drug Free Week, Father's Walk Your Child to School Day, the Bullying Awareness Campaign, and the annual United Way coin drive just to name a few.

My Project

My students need iPads as they train to become responsible digital citizens. As the library media specialist, it is my responsibility to instruct my students in digital citizenship. Edtech tools such as EdPuzzle, FlipGrid, Kahoot and Nearpod (just to name a few) require the participants to have access to technology. My objective is to create a 1:1 set-up in the library media center, in which every student is given a device for individualized learning. At this time I have zero devices. My goal is to acquire 30 iPads so that no matter the class size (classes are capped at 30 students) each child will have access to a tablet of their own when they visit the media center. As the media specialist I serve a school population of nearly 600 students in grades PreK-5, so every child will be able to make use of the technology.
