iPads for Coding Drones

My students need three iPads to code programs for a new drone curriculum in my class.

My Students

The students sign up for my PC Maintenance class to learn new technologies. These students have a passion for discovering how the digital devices they use each day function and operate under the hood. They enjoy exploring new projects different from the normal classroom setting. They learn to code, design 3-D objects, solder wires onto circuit boards, and fly video and racing drones. They learn to troubleshoot problems and become the go-to student to help with any sort of technology fix.

My Project

My class has recently adopted a new drone curriculum. We've acquired 4 new racing drones with an available programming suite that allows students to code flight-paths and navigate obstacles. They will also design their own obstacle course and compete for points. The app is found in the app store and requires the latest IOS in order to install. We currently only have one iPad in the classroom, and it does not support IOS 11. With more students showing an interest in my class, having 3 iPads will help them each create their own projects and work simultaneously. Our students are excited to explore this new drone curriculum using these new iPads.
