This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a 2nd-grade teacher in a high needs, low income, Title I school. Our students are primarily English Language Learners. Our school is 70% ELL and 100% free lunch/breakfast for all students.
I have an incredible group of 26 students who are showing such amazing growth, Each and every one of my students has gained a place in my heart, they're such kindhearted, noble, and passionate individuals.
Every day these students walk into the classroom eager to learn and ready to face any challenge that's put in front of them. These kids spend long hours at school every day and, yet, every single day they're excited to be here and ready to take on whatever is put in front of them. It truly amazes me how determined and dedicated these young minds of theirs are.
My Project
At our school, we believe strongly in our blended learning programs. What this means is that students are expected to graduate certain computer-based programs, such as Accelerated Reader, ST Math, and iReady. The best thing about it is that my students absolutely love working on these computer programs. My favorite part is watching their eyes light up with excitement when they fill up their flower on their Accelerated Reader or when they pass a challenge on ST Math. They are programs that these children genuinely love and enjoy learning with.
As their teacher, I feel it is my responsibility to ensure that they are provided with the necessary resources they need in order to further expand their knowledge.
With these iPads, I will be able to provide my students with more sources of technology that will help lead them towards more meaningful education.
