iPads for Autism

My students need an iPad and case to use as a reinforcement for positive behaviors.

My Students

Positive reinforcement! Small things make a big difference in a classroom for children with autism. The 7 wonderful students in my class face major challenges. However, with the right tools they are able to succeed and surpass expectations academically.

I have 7 students with autism, two females and 5 males.

Some students are non-verbal or language is limited. Other students have a hard time focusing and staying on task. They are amazing in many ways. Four of my students are mainstreamed for parts of the day. This means they go to the general education class for parts of the day. The iPad can be used to reinforce positive behaviors in the general education setting.

My Project

The use of an iPad would benefit my students by allowing them to use as a communication piece to be able to express their feelings and emotions. For others I will keep them focused long enough on a non-preferred task and reward them with time on an educational app.

My project will assist the children in completing non-preferred activities and will be used as a positive reinforcement for expected behaviors.

I can also use different apps to assist my non-verbal children in expressing themselves.
