Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom consists of many diverse learners who come from different backgrounds and cultures throughout New York City. We are located in a Title 1 school where 94% of the population is entitled to a free lunch. Our school vision is to educate the whole child while instilling a passion for lifelong learning. It is my goal as an educator to ensure that my students have the best resources available to foster this love of learning.
My first grade students are extremely hardworking.
They are enrolled in a Dual Language program which means they alternate days learning in English with me and Spanish with another teacher. Since my students learn two languages at once, my colleague and I like to incorporate song, dance, and technology to enhance their learning experience.
My Project
Using iPads in the classroom will have a tremendous impact on my first graders. My students will be able to access various apps that reinforce skills in literacy and math, as well as enable a higher level of learning. These tools will help create more authentic and individual learning experiences for my bilingual students.
In addition to this valuable resource, my students will build crucial twenty first century skills needed to be successful in a quickly evolving technical world.
The iPads will make learning more interactive and innovative, ensuring a fun engaging learning environment. These new learning tools will help lay the foundation for a lifetime of successful learning.
