My Students
Hello!
My name is Mr. Smith and I am a 4th grade teacher in the Cleveland Metro School District. Our school is special because 100% of our school qualifies for Free and Reduced Price Lunch and we are a diverse and dynamic East Side community. This makes for an incredibly unique, diverse and rich learning environment! However, it also means that some of my students academically further behind than their peers in other districts.
In order to help close this gap I am looking to increase access to the technology in my classroom to create a blended learning environment that supports building students background knowledge, while simultaneously increasing their grade level proficiency!
My students and I thank you for your generosity and support.
My students will use the iPads in a center for programs like iReady and CK12 which provide high level, rigorous math content that pushes my students to apply math to real world situations and improves their reading comprehension and writing skills as well as their math skills. They will also be used for testing and exit tickets using Google Forms to gain immediate formative data on student understanding of the lesson.
The iPads will help me teach math in engaging ways, create instant feedback for lesson effectiveness, and will help our students compete at a national and international level with other students in math and STEM content.
The programs used will aid our students make at least one year's academic growth. We have used this program in our class this year and seen a great improvement in student preparedness and test scores on national testing.
