I am the third grade ELA teacher at the only school in a very small southern town.
My students (or kids) do not seem to "get out of town" often, but this does not stop their learning, Some come to school wearing uniforms that are clearly the size/made for an 8th grader; some have been wearing the same shoes since August, they have now outgrown them and even duct tape them to keep them on; but they come to school EVERYDAY. This being said, school supplies also run extremely low. We share everything from scissors to glue to crayons with one another.
My Project
With the help of you, our lovely donors, my third graders will have access to up to date technology. These iPads will help my students with guidebook lessons, AR testing, CAST and writing assignments throughout the school year. Our new curriculum focuses on writing, students would have the opportunity to use the iPads for research. We will also be utilizing CAST this school year. CAST is Core Academic Support Time, iPads would allow students extra support in struggling areas through the use of technology. My classroom currently has one ancient student computer. On most days, we are lucky to get it turned on.

This will ensure that my students have an opportunity to use technology from start to finish of the school year.
