In my classroom, the struggles of home, and disability stay at the door. My students enter a room where our community joins us together. They enter a place where they each know they are valued and loved.
We all may come from different countries, languages, cultures and challenges in life, but our love of learning and compassion for one another brings us together.
In my class, I teach a group of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have 4 different languages spoken at home; including Samoan, Spanish, and Bosnian, but in our classroom we all come together to learn. I also have a wide range of learning challenges associated with their disabilities. I have students aged second grade to sixth grade in my room, I have individuals who communicate through sign language, pictures or approximations of words. But they all are eager and ready to learn.
My Project
These iPads will change my student's lives. In my classroom each child has their own unique challenges and areas of strength. Ipads are a way to bridge these gaps. Through using technology rather than creating materials I am able to better differentiate my instruction to each individuals needs.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve my student's communication, you will also help increase opportunities for reinforcement and assessment!
Students will be able to utilize apple software to piece together communication sentences in order to access their environment. I will be able to use reinforcement activities to motivate my students better.
Your donation will make a huge impact in these children's lives.
