Having the advantage of powerful technology tools in our classroom truly can enhance learning experiences. As a new technology tool, iPads are proving to be an asset to students. I know having a class iPad in combination with many free apps would make my 4th graders extremely happy!
I am currently a 4th grade team at a Pre K-5th grade school.
This is my first year at this school and I am impressed with wonderful parental support system here. Our school has more than 500 students at this time. I teach two sections of English Language Arts (ELA) subjects to both groups. My students in both sections are eager to learn, and I truly enjoy having each one in my classroom!
My Project
Obviously, for any teacher, a key component is knowing the importance of individual student levels. With the use of an iPad, my students could work in independent ELA iPad centers to increase reading levels or focus on weak areas when needed. I recently learned that our school has its own iPad website set up. I would use free apps to help my students in centers and also in a whole group setting. If connected to a projector and interactive whiteboard using the Apple Dock VGA adapter, we could use the iPad as a group. I have no doubt the students would enjoy positive and effective interactive apps that are readily available online. It is a win-win situation. A class iPad and Apps would make happy 4th graders!
As I said earlier, I believe that a class iPad combined with many free apps would make my 4th graders extremely happy and would be utilized for effective lessons.
