iPad2: A Technological Gateway to the Autistic World

My students need an IPad2 and case so they can use communication programs to help them communicate their wants and needs better to their educators, peers, and families

My Students

Can you imagine not being able to talk with your friends and family? Can you imagine not being able to tell someone you are hungry or hurt? Me neither and that is why my students need your help!

The students within my classroom are not so different from any other students.

They have things they like and things they don't like. They go to school as everyone else does to learn and have a productive life. The main difference is my students all have Autism. As with many Autistic individuals, many of my students have communication issues that don't allow them to express their everyday wants and needs. We try to help with this, but realize we could do better.

My Project

My students need an IPad2 and case. The IPad2 and case will give my students the opportunity to participate in communication programs to communicate their basic wants and needs. The ability to communicate will allow these students to particapte in activities with classmates, friends, and families. In addition, it will allow these individuals the ability to live a more productive life and more a part of their community.

A life where they can communicate with others and express basic wants and needs. Imagine waking up one morning and not being able to talk. How frustrating and upsetting it would be not being able to tell someone what you want to eat, drink, or that you feel bad. Now imagine that you were born that way! These are the feelings my students have felt their whole life.
