My students need an iPad mini, case, keyboard, and screen protector to help them improve their fine motor skills.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Arty's classroom raised $929
This project is fully funded
My Students
Can an iPad be used to help develop fine motor skills, dexterity, and handwriting readiness in children? It sure can! And, it can also be used as a tool to help improve visual motor and visual perceptual skills.
My students are autistic and range in age from 5 to 10 years old.
They receive special instruction in small classrooms, as well as related services such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech. My students present with delays in fine motor control, visual motor/perceptual skills, strength, coordination, etc.
My Project
With an iPad, my students will be able to improve their fine motor, visual motor, and visual perceptual skills while working on academics such as math, reading, and writing. An iPad will make learning fun through the use of games and educational apps. Many apps are available which will allow my students to work on tasks such as letter and number recognition, matching, tracing, writing, spelling, and memory. Games that involve tapping, pinching, and writing will enhance graphomotor skills. There is even an app to help with tying shoelaces!
An iPad will make a huge difference in the lives of my students, allowing them access to technology which can bring them to a new level in learning.
It will add support to what is being done at home, in therapy, and during the rest of their school day.
