My students need a class iPad to access the internet while in the classroom. The athletes that I coach will also benefit from having an iPad in the class.
There is no typical day in my classroom. Every day is a new adventure in my classes don't expect my students to remember every detail about US history at the end of the year. However, I do expect them to know how to find the facts and use their own mind to make decisions.
Our students are from a rural area and they come from hard working families.
Our school is in the heart of the gold country. Our school has some of the nicest students you can imagine. We have a lot of school spirit and care about each student and staff member on campus. The students in my classroom are eager to learn and are a pleasure to teach. We are slowly improving our use of technology on campus. This I-pad is an attempt to be proactive and give my students more access to technology.
My Project
An I-pad in class will open up the World Wide Web to my students. I can have the I-pad hooked up to the schools wifi system and it can be a resource for my students. In my Earth Science/US history class it will be a useful source of information for students to use to fact find or find a picture. My students often want to see a picture of something they are learning about in a group type setting. For example, one group was interested to see tunnels and defense systems on the island of Iwo Jima. Another group was investigating phases of the moon in Earth Science. Having a resource like this that everyone in class can access will take learning to the next level.
Also athletes on my teams can access film on their off periods to see improvements that can be made for game day. Football players can watch their game film on the HUDL app. My throwers on the track team can watch you tube videos to improve their technique.
It will take my class to the next level by encouraging students to ask more questions and know that the answer can be found.
It will inspire them to investigate and find deeper meaning on their own. It will change their lives for the better because they will no longer need to go to the library to find out more information. With a couple of clicks they can quickly find what they need without leaving class.
