iPad Pro for Learning- Remote and In-Person Learning

Help me give my students a better remote experience by allowing me to use an iPad Pro as not only a second screen, but also to integrate a more virtual white board and interactive experience.

My Students

I work in an amazing art integrated public school in Kentucky. Our students audition and are accepted into our school for creative and performing arts. This makes for a very unique and wonderful teaching and learning environment. Though all our students have the commonality of being identified as talented in their focus arts areas, we have a diverse population of students with a wide range of academic interests and abilities that come from all over our city.

My students are highly motivated and hardworking children-Because of their diverse educational backgrounds, they have all had different scientific and math experiences, but providing engaging and motivating hands-on experiences and online tools in the lab allows all my students the ability to teach and learn from one another and achieve success.

Students get an insider's view of how engineers apply mathematical skills and scientific knowledge to solve problems. In my classroom, we think and wonder, wonder, and think, each and every day. It is my intention to create 21st-century thinkers and problem solvers.

My Project

Having an iPad Pro will open up opportunities for the teacher and the students. I will be using the iPad Pro, Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil along with apps to be able to teach in different ways. Being able to take notes on the iPad Pro and add notes with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil will also be a way to model strategies and Think Aloud for students. It also allows for interaction with text and many types of media.

Whether we learn Face to Face or move to Distant Learning, the iPad Pro will be a valuable tool.

For Face to Face learning, having an iPad Pro will give students opportunities to share their thinking process with the rest of the class as the iPad Pro is connected with the projector for everyone to follow along. Since we will be having to be socially distanced, this tool will allow us to share our thinking processes. Having these tools gives everyone opportunities to share and be part of the understanding and solution process. Allowing students the ability to share their work will allow them to feel that their ideas are important and valued in the classroom-- as well as staying connected with learning.
