How many times did you check your smartphone today? I lost count. What do you do when you want to know something? I Google it. Whether you are looking up a word, researching, or using the flashlight app, it's all in the palm of your hand and a tap away. Shouldn't we want that for our students too?
I teach fifth and sixth graders in a diverse ethnic population in California.
My students have an excitement for learning, especially when technology is involved. For some, school is the only place where they can get their hands on it. I want to be able to provide my students with technological tools to enhance their learning.
My Project
There's an app for everything these days. Math, reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary, social studies, and science to name a few. The teacher is with a small group of students at the moment. Not a problem. Use the iPad Mini to view the tutorial in the meantime. Absent when the class did the science lab? Let's watch the demo in the science videos.
I want to use the iPad Mini to expand the educational experience of my students. It's not a device to just play games or listen to music with. It's a tool to help students become better learners.
So many possibilities, and just taps away.
Education leads to success, and technology today is such a big part of that.
The use of the iPad Mini in my classroom will not only benefit the students I have now but also the students in future years. With your help we can create a rich learning environment for all learners.
