Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
About My Students
Miguel is a very creative student. He is constantly helping his peers and likes to show different solutions to solve a problem.
He is very selfless and is always offering to help those in class.
Students were given the opportunity to brainstorm ideas as a class. They either wrote down their ideas on paper or some submitted them electronically. Many of them were very creative, but many agreed that 6 tablets will be very helpful and versatile in the classroom.
This project will allow students to apply math concepts that they learn in class in real world situations. Students will make and present different models and solutions to problems in class. Students will also have to learn how to communicate as a group and unleash their creative sides.
In Their Own Words
These iPad minis would be great for reaching our goal of making math more accessible and interactive through the use of technology. Right now, our class only has one teacher iPad that he uses to show us tutorial videos on the lesson we’re learning.
He uses it as a virtual chalkboard to do example problems in real time through the use of our classroom’s Apple TV. The iPad’s AirPlay can connect to other programs (like Schoology), so he can show us our assignments and exams. We want to make math more interactive and fun.
I will monitor the Donors Choose request and notify my teacher when we have reached our goal. I will also be a leader for this project by getting my fellow classmates excited about having a new technology tool to use in the classroom. I feel like this would be really exciting for all of us because we will have the chance to share our work. I will make this project happen by getting it funded on this website. It would be an amazing new tool for our class and would be greatly appreciated.
This project is important to my school community because it would benefit over 170 students in Mr.Diaz’s 7th grade CC math class. With this many students, 6 iPads may seem like a small amount but anything can make a difference. I hope after reading this you understand why it would help my peers and me further our math understanding.
