Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a middle school Math teacher to English Language Learners enrolled in 7th and 8th grade. The students would greatly benefit from iPad innovation to assist in building their Math and Language skills.

My students have to overcome many language barriers, learn the English language, and learn required school concepts with little or no help from their parents.

Their parents are unable to help them in the educational area due to a lack of knowledge and understanding of the English language as well as knowledge of the required math concepts. My students work hard and often support their mothers and fathers by running household errands and watching younger siblings. Most of my students -- like their schoolmates -- receive a free or reduced lunch. Some also live in shelters, others have parents who are incarcerated, siblings in gangs, etc. Despite their list of obstacles, the students in my English Language Learners Math program are charming, fun-loving, and motivated to learn and succeed.

My Project

Having an iPad 2 would not make a small impact on the lives of my students. Instead, it could CHANGE their lives forever. My classroom could become a model for other classrooms, other schools, other teachers, and other families. The impact could be far-reaching and change many lives with this great gift. The education-related applications for the iPad are numerous and wide-ranging. There are applications to service fine motor delays, math flashcards, interactive games, and stimulation programs displaying math in the real world. In addition to these applications, students will be able to access intervention programs our school has purchased using a wireless Internet connection. Endless possibilities!

Please support my proposal in acquiring this technology for my classroom.

Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. Every little bit takes us one step closer to reaching our goal. Thank you in advance for seeking out DonorsChoose.org and supporting education.
