Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Many of the students in my class don't have access to technology at home. They are excited when we are able to use it in the classroom! With how technology-driven the world has become- my students would benefit from being able to use devices in the classroom.

They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging activities.

There are many applications I have had experience teaching with that I know my group of kiddos would love! I want them to feel excited about their learning and empowered to work towards a bright future- no matter where they have started.

My Project

The 4th-grade team at my school shares iPads across the grade. When they are available for our class to use my students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers. However, sharing across the grade can be difficult and does not ever allow my students to each have an iPad at the same time. There are many applications and tools that I have been trained on that I know would earn my student's attention! If I can get a set of iPads they could be used for our reading and math rotations, whole group competitions (my students love a good friendly competition!) and as an assessment tool.

With my school being Title I- many of my students are at risk and don't come from a home situation that allows them to learn about and use technology.

I would love for them to get the experience to use iPads regularly in our classroom and take ownership of their learning!
