My Students
Upgrade our class! Tablets, like the iPad, can be life-changing in the academic development of students with special needs. Utilizing an iPad in our classroom would give students access to a variety of books and educational games, as well as get students excited about using technology to learn!
I teach in a K-2 special education classroom, in a neighborhood public school.
I work with students with specific learning disabilities, autism, mild cognitive delays, and developmental delays. While my students vary in their instructional levels, one thing that they all have in common is that they love, love, love technology! Last year, my classroom was lucky enough to have a laptop funded through DonorsChoose.org, and my students CANNOT get enough of it! Because of that piece of technology, they have had so much access to educational games, books, and learning opportunities. I know that this Apple iPad will give them incredible opportunities as well!
My Project
With the creation of literally thousands of educational applications, the iPad has become an amazing resource for special education classrooms. In my classroom, each student has a learning plan that is individually designed to meet their needs. Being able to target my students' needs is crucial, and I can't think of a more fun and motivating way for them to reach their goals than by utilizing an Apple iPad. This technology is particularly wonderful for children with special needs because it allows them to touch and manipulate content and will draw them into lessons in new ways!
Having an iPad in my classroom will revolutionize the way my student access content.
My students come to school excited to learn new things. I would like to meet their enthusiasm with awesome opportunities and give them the chance to use technology to learn! Help us make it happen!
