My Project
The classroom of today is rapidly changing before our eyes, and it is no question that technology has played a large role in these changes. Some may view this negatively, but the truth is that technology integration can be an incredibly positive thing for today's students.
Specifically, having an iPad in the classroom can promote numerous positive changes within my classroom.
While students have district-provided devices, this does not change my ability to be as physically present and mobile within the classroom. In fact, while I have a Promethean Board to display notes and materials on, I am restricted to the front of the room to operate it, meaning I am unable to be mobile in a class of 25-30 students. By having an iPad, I would be able to be mobile within my class and still operate/display notes, annotations, etc. in real time from anywhere in my room. This would also allow me to hand off the iPad to students to write student examples from the comfort of their desk and so much more. Further, iPads provide an overwhelming amount of accessibility tools to make my classroom a more equitable and inclusive learning environment.
My goal with this project is to ensure that my students have that environment. It is also my goal to be able to make the classroom a more one-on-one environment despite the larger class sizes we are seeing today. My classes are incredibly diverse at Fairforest Middle School, and my students need my presence in an accessible, inclusive, and equitable way.
