My Students
I teach special needs students. My students have autism and behavioral challenges. They also have learning disabilities or cognitive impairment. Some of them have severe challenges and require extra support and extra services.
I am dedicated to giving each of my students the tools and guidance to maximize their success.
I try to apply and create a curriculum that is specific to their needs.
A part of my job also involves communicating with parents. I use apps to communicate with my parents and give homework for my students.
My Project
Hi! My name is Oksana and I am a speech teacher at a special education school. I am going to use different apps to enhance my students communication skills.
I work with students who are non-verbal and cannot communicate their needs.
Access to an iPad will enable them to communicate their wants and needs and promote their independence. Some of them can't speak clearly and there are apps that specifically target improving their speech.
Imagine how you would feel if you were not able to talk! My students are sometimes frustrated which creates behavioral challenges. My students love technology which will further promote progress.
