My Students

My students are faced with the challenge of not have peers at their school who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. They may be the only student on campus who uses sign language to communicate. They may also be the only deaf student on campus who uses their speech and listening skills with a CI or aids.

My students are mainstreamed at their homeschool in the Northern California area.

Some of them use ASL, some use oral communication, and some use both! My students are in general education classes and the SDC setting. They are at 24 different school sites in the area.

My Project

The iPad will provide my students with a hands-on, exciting learning experience. I am not a teacher who provides countless worksheets and lectures. I try hard to create fun units that inspire children. The iPad will make learning fun as well as provide them with real-time video calling. This will enable them to see and communicate with D/hh students in other classes and districts!

Often times my students feel lonely being the only Deaf student on campus.

With your help they will get access to other Deaf students in the area. They will also get better access to Deaf role models through the use of this iPad. The impact of your help on this project is beyond words!
