This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in Texas where most of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. I see the struggles many of these children go through, many coming from impoverished homes and from hard home lives. Many of my students are being raised in single-parent households.

My class is filled with diverse backgrounds and a high percentage of students are from low income families.

I need your help to provide my students with everything they need to be successful. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

My Project

Technology is becoming more prominent in today’s classrooms. Students use computers, tablets, and Smartboards while learning. In mathematics, these tools can be very useful for teachers in engaging students with new material and lessons.

Appropriate and integrated use of iPads impacts every aspect of mathematics education: what mathematics is taught, how mathematics is taught and learned, and how mathematics is assessed.

iPads help to mitigate getting overwhelmed through a diversity of apps that address just about every kind of skill out there for kids with learning disabilities. So, if a student struggles with one skill that’s required to complete a bigger assignment, they can review and develop that skill in an app before tackling the bigger task.

There is a strong research base that describes how iPads strengthen student engagement and learning. This is why I'm requesting an iPad for my mathematics class.
