Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have a love of learning and a thirst for more knowledge. With the introduction of the recent Accelerated Reader and Math program - my students now have the ability to "show what they know." Technology in the classroom would aid them in this process.
I am a first year teacher at a first year STEM school.
My students are excited and eager learners, who enjoy the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) approach to education. They are very hands-on, and like to see and experience learning for themselves. They are active learners and enjoy science, social studies, math, and especially reading. I have a wide range of readers in my classroom, who enjoy picture books, as well as chapter books. They are most excited when we get to do interactive activities together as a whole group or when they get to work individually on the iPad.
My Project
With the recent introduction of the Accelerated Math and Reading program, my students have become very excited to use the technology we have, which currently is just one iPad. They have been reading and meeting their goals with this one piece of technology, which makes me confident that with another iPad, they would achieve even higher goals.
Another iPad would also help in small group, as well as our after school tutoring program.
As second graders, my students are naturally curious about the world around them, we often times have many questions arise during our day that could be answered by the students if we had more technology in the classroom.
