We are a community of fourth graders, within the School District of Philadelphia, who are very eager to learn. Our classroom consists of 33 students, a few of which receive special education services, as well as those who are struggling, English-speaking learners. Being an urban school setting, 100% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches which means many of my students do not have the resources or tools at home to help reinforce their learning.
Research shows that people remember 20% of what they hear, 30% of what they see, and 50% of what they hear AND see.
By using iPads in our classroom, students can work at their own pace and on their own level. This will give my students that extra boost they need.
My Project
Every child can master basic math facts with fluency and ease, if they have the appropriate tools for practice. With an iPad, my students will be able to practice and reinforce math skills digitally, giving them the freedom to strengthen their skills on their own levels.
With an iPad, my students will be able to access a digital intervention, which reinforces different mathematical skills and concepts.
Students will be able to access high-quality lessons, games, and activities that they would otherwise not be able to access in our classroom math book. No two learners are alike. Using this technology is an effective tool in reaching the diverse learners in my class. It serves as an interactive and motivational tool of learning that allows my ESL students to become more engaged in their learning process.
