This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are excited to come to school every day. They live in an area of high crime and high poverty. School is a safe and stable place. They know that they can find comfort here.

We are a “trauma-informed” school.

We specialize in taking care of emotional and social needs to make sure that our students can focus. Basic needs must be met before one can concentrate on academics.

We have a lot of work before us to ensure academic success. One of my goals is to provide access to the world that my students may not have because of their backgrounds. I want to do the most I can for my beautiful little minds.

My Project

iPads are an amazing resource for both students and teachers. Having an iPad in the classroom will allow my students an opportunity to use educational reading and math applications to help with their skills. They can use it in a center or simply to individually reinforce skills they learn from the whole group instruction. This iPad will help students who are more kinesthetic and visual learners individualize their learning experience.

Besides using the apps to reinforce skills, we will use the iPad to take videos and photos!

Since a lot of student thinking is difficult to record, because of kindergarten emergent writing skills, having an iPad to record their thinking and learning will be incredible! We can create ebooks and virtual reports to assess the student’s learning. Students can create weather reports and PSAs to share with others in the school or their families. I can take videos and photos of my students while they are working to celebrate their work with the student families.

An iPad is a great technological tool that should be present in every classroom! It is so user-friendly that even a 4 year-old can use it. The possibilities of how an iPad can be used to benefit the education of children are endless.
