My Students
My students are eager to learn! They come to school wanting to learn and ask lots of questions. Our school is a magnet school in a large, urban school district. The school is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. As an IB program, we focus on global themes that students can relate to and want to know more about.
At our school, we encourage inquiry and questioning of how things work and why.
We focus on hands-on inquiry. We believe in the power of choice and having lots of options to help us learn.
My Project
An iPad allows students to learn new skills in a fun, exciting way. There are many educational apps available that target skills needed for kindergartners. Math activities abound with matching, patterning, tracing, addition, subtraction, and problem solving. Reading skills can be strengthened through apps which encourage students to read, find specific words, and recognize letters and their sounds.
Differentiated learning can occur with students assigned to use apps at their level which could be remedial or challenging.
Photos and video of activities can be taken with ease. Students can record themselves reading or explaining a project to share with parents. The uses of an iPad in the classroom are endless!
