Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Technology can become the wings that will allow the educational world to fly farther and faster than ever before".
Although the benefits of having technology in our classroom are many, the opportunities to use it are few and far between.
My students come from a very low socioeconomic background and do not have access to technology. Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch. We have the highest rate of ELL (English language learners) in the state and a high amount of special education students.
My Project
With the funding of this project I will be able to provide enrichment, extra practice and breaks for students who desperately need something extra. Having an iPad in the classroom will allow students to have uninterrupted time to work on what they truly need most. For some students that means challenging games and activities involving reasoning and logic. For other students this means working on fluency of reading or math skills. Finally, some students are too distracted by a whole group setting and need individual work to keep them focused. This one piece of technology will allow for all of this to happen seamlessly within our classroom.
Currently, if students need personalized work or a break that involves a worksheet of some sort.
The iPad will allow for a more interactive and engaging way for students to get what they need. This means that students will look forward to, instead of shy away from different work.
